These are the raw scores for the July 2014 Florida Bar Exam, Part A.

Compare: July 2014 with July 2013 Raw Scores

The July 2014 and July 2013 Florida Bar Exams were very similar in subject matter and “mean raw scores.” Both exams tested the subjects of Contracts, the UCC, Trusts, the Florida Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure, Business Entities, and Evidence. Overall, the July 2014 applicants scored slightly higher on the multiple-choice section than did that of the July 2013 applicants. On average, the July 2014 applicants answered approximately 18.8 multiple-choice questions correctly, whereas the July 2013 applicants answered approximately 18.5 questions correctly. As for the essays, the July 2014 applicants scored slightly lower than did that of the July 2013 applicants—by about 6-7 points overall. The July 2014 average essay score was 141; the July 2013 average essay score was 147.5.

According to the Florida Supreme Court, the July 2014 overall pass rate for first time test takers was 71.8 percent. The July 2013 overall pass rate for first time test takers was 77.2 percent, which means there were 5.4 percent less applicants who passed the July 2014 Florida Bar Exam than did those who passed the July 2013 Florida Bar Exam. There were 209 less first time test takers in July 2014 than there were in July 2013. To our knowledge, we have no way of knowing how many exam repeaters took the July 2014 or July 2013 exam.
