Your Character Starts with You
Today, if you’ve got a minute, let’s take time—time to look at ourselves. Often, we reflect on other people and their circumstances but not on our own circumstances. It has been said that “everyone has an opinion,” which leads us to believe that it’s okay to speak our mind on someone else’s situation. Even though by all accounts this might be true, today, let’s take a minute to reflect on You.
One thing is for sure: every situation you are in, most certainly involves You. And while we are spending time trying to figure out others, have you taken some time to figure out You?
If things are not going well and you’re wondering why, start with You! If some situation requires correction, start with You! Ask yourself, “Self, am I messing up things?” You’ll probably find yourself a little confused, because our fleshly instinct makes us want to include and even blame others for situations we’re in that we don’t like. Remember, though, “God is not the author of confusion,” and He wants the very best for you.
So while you’re reflecting on, and diagnosing yourself, try this: pray, and ask God to help you! He promises guidance and abundant life. He will remind you that CHARACTER is important, and the most important issue for you, is Yours.
